In the 70 years since its establishment in Barcelona in 1950, automotive manufacturer SEAT has become the go-to brand for aspirational young drivers across Europe and beyond.

Now the company is reinventing itself for a world in which electric vehicles, environmental regulations and car-sharing services are shaking the automotive industry to its foundations.

As part of its 70th anniversary celebrations, SEAT has opened an urban mobility hub in a stylish building in Barcelona and launched a brand-new business unit, SEAT MÓ, which will spearhead the company’s transformation.

“Barcelona will be the testing ground for the development of urban mobility solutions to be exported to the rest of the world,” said Wayne Griffiths, Vice-president for Sales and Marketing at SEAT.

“With SEAT MÓ we want to make individual mobility accessible for everyone and CASA SEAT will be its centre of operations.”

To underscore its commitment to innovation in mobility, at the opening ceremony of CASE SEAT the company unveiled a pair of unique battery-powered two-wheelers which are specifically designed to keep people moving in this new era for urban mobility.

With a range of 125 kilometres, and a battery that can be removed and plugged into a home power socket, the SEAT MÓ eScooter 125 allows drivers to navigate crowded city streets on a completely zero-emission vehicle.

The scooter has been developed to be suitable for the new generation of vehicle sharing services: as well as a battery that can be easily swapped, it features a built-in smartphone holder, two USB ports and storage space for two helmets.

SEAT also believes there is high potential for its MÓ eKickScooter 65 to be used in sharing services for urban transport.

The kick scooter is more powerful and comfortable than most comparable scooters, with a battery that can generate enough power to go up an incline of as much as 20 degrees.

“We want to adapt to the new needs of cities and their residents,” says Lucas Casasnovas, who is in charge of SEAT MÓ. “The SEAT MÓ eScooter 125, the SEAT MÓ eKickScooter 65 and our entry into the world of motosharing demonstrate our commitment to providing efficient, sustainable micro-mobility solutions.”full_stop
